Release Date: May 26, 2017

Dolores, Colorado – May 25, 2017 – The Dolores Ranger District plans to conduct a prescribed burn beginning Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at Trimble Point, pending favorable weather conditions.  Both hand and aerial ignition methods are planned for two to four days to reduce ground litter in an area originally burned in June of 2007. The burn would take place on 1,515 acres of National Forest lands about 13 miles north of Dolores just south of the intersection of National Forest roads 514 and 523.  Smoke is expected to settle into the McPhee Reservoir area overnight and may be visible from the Dolores and Ground Hog Reservoir areas. Exact timing of burn operations will be dependent on weather and fuel conditions.
