Resurfacing of Hermosa Park Road will cause Traffic Delays this Fall
Release Date: Sep 10, 2015
The San Juan National Forest will be resurfacing five miles of the Hermosa Park Road (Forest Road #578) from Monday, Sept. 21st through Sunday, October 4th. During this time, travelers on the Hermosa Park Road will experience up to four-hour delays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. seven days a week. The delays will affect access to the Upper Hermosa Creek Trailhead and beyond. In addition, access to Relay Creek Road (Forest Road #579) will be limited during these times. The roads will be open for traffic prior to 8 a.m., between noon and 1 p.m., and after 5 p.m. Gravel will be crushed at a pit up the Relay Creek Road and transported via dump trucks to road graders, which will apply the gravel and blade the surface of the Hermosa Park Road between its intersection with the Relay Creek Road and the Upper Hermosa Trailhead. Signs will be posted, and Forest Service employees will be onsite for traffic-control purposes.
