Pino Fire Update: No Significant Rain Yesterday

August 28, 2014, Santa Fe, NM – The lightning caused Pino Fire, on Santa Fe National Forest’s Jemez Ranger District, is now estimated at 124 acres. The wildfire is being managed for resource benefit. The fire is located five miles south of State Highway 4 and six miles east of Jemez Springs.

 

The fire received no significant rain yesterday.  Rates of spread were minimal in most areas.  The fire continues to burn actively in the heavy fuels.  Fire activity and smoke is expected to increase significantly into the weekend as temperatures increase and humidities decrease. Those persons with respiratory ailments are advised to prepare a personal response plan if smoke enters their location.

 

There are no road closures due to fire at this time.  The fire is not anticipated to impact local businesses or recreation facilities over the Labor Day weekend.
