Forest Service Requests Public Comment on
Panther (Big Creek) Hot Springs Geothermal Leases
The Salmon-Challis National Forest will host a public meeting concerning the Panther (Big Creek) Hot Springs Geothermal Leasing project on March 27, 2012 at 6:00 PM. The meeting will be held in the main conference room of the Salmon-Challis National Forest Supervisor’s Office, located at 1206 South Challis Street, Salmon, Idaho, 83467.
The Forest proposes to respond to a request from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to provide concurrence on three non-competitive geothermal lease applications. The purpose of the project is to determine whether, and under what conditions, the applied-for lands are available for geothermal leasing. Along with providing concurrence to the BLM on the leases, the Forest needs to make recommendations for lease stipulations to protect other resource values.
The project area is located in Lemhi County on the Salmon-Cobalt and North Fork Ranger Districts. The lease-application area encompasses approximately nine square miles and is approximately centered on Panther Creek Hot Springs.
Your comments on the project will be gladly accepted at the March 27th meeting. Alternatively, comments may be sent to the Salmon-Cobalt Ranger District, Attn: District Ranger, 311 McPherson Street South, Salmon, Idaho, 83467, or electronically to email@example.com, with the project name, Panther (Big Creek) Hot Springs Geothermal Leasing Project, in the subject line. Although your comments are always welcome, comments will be most helpful to us if received by April 27, 2012.
