Campers staying in Siuslaw National Forest campgrounds along the Siltcoos recreation corridor, 7 miles south of Florence, need to supply their own drinking water because of a break in an underground water line. The break was discovered July 21, prompting the shutdown of flush toilets, showers and water faucets at the following recreation sites:

  • Driftwood II Campground
  • Lagoon Campground
  • Waxmyrtle Campground

Portable toilets have been brought into the affected areas, but visitors should supply their own drinking water.

Forest Service staff is working to identify the location of the leak and hope to have full services back to the campgrounds by the end of the month. Updates will be available through the Forest’s website at https://www.fs.usda.gov/siuslaw and through its social media channels on Facebook and Twitter.

Showers at Driftwood II Campground are unavailable as of July 21 until a water line can be repaired.
