New Lower Trinity Deputy District Ranger

Eureka, CA, September 28, 2012– Forest Supervisor Tyrone Kelley announces that Dan Dill has been named Deputy District Ranger for the Lower Trinity Ranger District. The Lower Trinity Ranger District is now managed with the Orleans and Ukonom Districts as one unit under District Ranger Nolan Colegrove.
Dan Dill was born in Fortuna California and represents the fifth generation of his family to live and work in Humboldt County. He attended school in Fortuna and graduated from Fortuna High. He attended College of the Redwoods and then transferred to Humboldt State University, graduating in 1995 with a Bachelors of Science in Wildlife Management and Minor in Forestry and Natural Resources Management.
During Dan’s college years he worked in forest management. In 1992, he had the opportunity to spend a summer as a Forestry Aid. From that point forward Dan worked in the natural resources arena. At different times working in fisheries, forestry, hydrology, and archeology, and most importantly as a wildlife biologist. Dan came to the Forest Service in 2008, after leaving his post as the Senior Wildlife Biologist for The Pacific Lumber Company, serving as the Mad River Ranger District Wildlife Biologist for the last four years.
Dan has already contributed a great deal to the Forest, and we are looking forward to his contributions in his new role as Deputy Ranger,” said Kelley. Dill started in his new position on September 24.
Dill and his wife Dawn have two daughters, Emily and Ava.
