Volunteer campground hosts needed

The Shasta-McCloud Management Unit is looking for highly motivated individuals or a couple to work as volunteer campground hosts starting this summer and lasting until mid-November at Cattle Camp Campground. Host positions offer a great opportunity to get out into the woods for the season and can be a very rewarding experience.
About the Position:
Being a campground host requires one to have a friendly and helpful disposition, as well as the ability to acquire knowledge of the district and share it with visitors. Hosts are required to work a minimum of 24 hours per week but may be asked to do a bit more, therefore flexibility is a must. Coverage on weekends and holidays is mandatory unless previously arranged with Recreation Staff.
Hosts will be required to answer visitors’ questions and/or direct them to the district office. Occasional occupancy updates will need to be given by the host to the district office. Some of the main duties of the position are checking payment stubs for compliance, removing old stubs, helping campers identify and rectify minor violations such as noise, unruly pets, etc. Hosts are required to identify serious violations and report them to the district or to law enforcement, depending on severity. Other host duties include the clean-up of sites, pine needle and cone removal, to picking-up some occasional litter. District recreation staff perform the garbage pick-up and restroom services, but hosts may be asked to assist or do minor maintenance.
Campground hosts must have their own RV and possess a valid state identification. Propane refills may be available. There are no electric hookups or dump stations at the campground, however a nearby dump station can be found in McCloud.
About the Campground:
Cattle Camp Campground is one of the most popular camping sites on the unit, drawing visitors from all over the world. To get to the campground you need to travel along Highway 89. The turnoff for Cattle Camp is 10.5 miles east of the small town of McCloud (a full-service community). The campground has around 30 sites and offers vault toilets, water and garbage collection.
