Firefighting efforts continue to focus on the south and southeast side of the Shiell Fire, where crews are strengthening containment lines. A few spot fires in the area are being suppressed. Firefighters are successfully holding containment lines in the Wildwood area.
In the Salt Gulch area of the Rail Fire, crews are continuing mop up activities. Clearer skies in the area allowed aircraft to assist ground crews today.
Some crews assigned to the fire complex are timing out and availability of new resources has dropped as fire activity increases in other parts of the nation. California National Guard soldiers trained to fight wildfires are assisting in firefighting efforts on the Fork Complex fires through Sunday.
