Current fire situation:
There was minimum fire activity last night. Crews successfully continued a small but strategic firing operation north of the confluence of Gates Creek and Corral Creeks to defend the Bar 717 property on the Pattison Fire. Patrols remained in place along the Lower South Fork Road on the west side of the Castle Fire and Corral Bottom Road on the east side of the Pattison Fire providing structure defense.

Work today will be focused on completing the strategic firing operation from last night down to Hayfork Creek. Firefighters will continue falling dead trees, brushing and improving the fireline on the ridge east of Gates Creek. Crews will also continue to patrol and look for spots on the west side of the Castle Fire along the South Fork of the Trinity River and along the northern portions of the Castle and Pattison Fires. A second strategic firing operation may begin south of Springer if the conditions are favorable. This is the last day for the California National Guard crews.
