The Umpqua National Forest is holding a forest management plan revision listening session on Tuesday, April 28, in Roseburg. The event is one of 11 planned so far in locations throughout Oregon and Washington. These sessions follow an initial round of listening sessions held earlier in Portland, Seattle and Redding.

The session on April 28th will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Douglas County Fairgrounds in the Community Building.

The purpose of the session is for the Forest Service to share current thinking on plan revision and how science will inform the process as well as listen to ideas and thoughts about how to approach public engagement for forest plan revision on the Umpqua National Forest.

“The Land and Resource Management Plan for the Umpqua National Forest was published in 1990 and then amended in 1994 by the Northwest Forest Plan. It is time to look at revisiting the plan,” said Alice Carlton, Umpqua Forest Supervisor. “We are holding this session because we know the natural resources and landscape on the forest matter to people and that the community depends on the National Forest to provide a variety of services and goods. We want to find the greatest good by listening to the community during this session.”
