Mountain Bike Riding Areas
The Forest has several mountain bike riding areas which provide recreational opportunities on interconnecting trails in a general geographic area. Access to most of the trails is from trailheads, campgrounds or road crossings.

Trail Riding Areas near Baker City, Oregon
Phillips Lake Area Trails
The Phillips Lake trails are located about 18 miles from Baker City, Oregon. The mountain bike trails include north and south shoreline trails, and other trails that extend south on the hills above the lake. These dual purpose trails are also designated as cross country ski trails in the winter. There are over 21 miles of riding opportunities near the lake.
Southern Elkhorn Mountain Trails
Located about 10 miles from Baker City the Southern Elkhorn Mountain trails are premier mountain bike riding trails and routes for the advanced riders. These high elevational trails ride along the Elkhorn Crest, and loop back to several Forest Service and County roads.

Spring Creek Area Trails
The Spring Creek mountain bike trails are located about 18 miles from La Grande, Oregon. Set in the open ponderosa pine forests above the Grande Ronde River, the four trails total over 11 miles of riding opportunities. The trails on on low traffic open and closed forest roads.
