White Mountain National Forest Announces Trail Reconstruction Project

Campton, NH – Part of the popular Champney Falls Trail on the Kancamagus Scenic Byway is temporarily closed for trail reconstruction work (map). The section of the trail that provides access to the scenic Champney and Pitcher Falls, as well as trails leading to the scenic Champney and Pitcher Falls is closed to access by hikers; however, the trail leading to the summit of Mt. Chocorua is open.
Due to extensive use and erosion, some areas along the trail have become unstable. Reconstruction work is being performed to make the trail more sustainable.
