Campton, NH – Beginning Monday, September 22nd 2014, the western end of Tripoli Road in Woodstock, NH will be closed for repaving. This project will replace several drainage structures, reconstruct the road bed and repave the road from the western end of Tripoli Road on the Interstate 93 side at Exit 31, to the road’s junction with Russell Pond Road. Closure barricades are expected to be in place during weekdays and lifted on Friday evening at 5:00 p.m. as well as on weekends, unless construction schedules change. “This project has been needed for quite some time and campers will no doubt welcome the improvements to the road which will come out of this project,” said District Ranger Jon Morrissey. “The Forest is partnering with the Department of Transportation Federal Highways Administration on this project. While it may be a bit of an inconvenience for thru traffic and for visitors accustomed to using the Exit 31 entrance, these improvements are certainly worth going ahead with as the summer season winds down.”

While the project is in progress, access to Russell Pond Campground will be possible from the Waterville Valley end of Tripoli Road.  Both Russell Pond Campground and Tripoli Road Campground will be open as usual through Columbus Day weekend. The Waterville Valley access to Tripoli Road is available from Exit 28 on Interstate 93 by traveling east on Route 49 into Waterville Valley. The White Mountain National Forest anticipates this project will be completed by the end of November, weather permitting.
