As the snow begins to melt and spring nears, we begin to draw our thoughts toward another fire season. A part of our preparations includes prescribed burning to reduce the buildup of forest fuels.
The Forest Service has managed rafting on the Tuolumne River since 1975. Commercial outfitters operate within a permit system under which the number of trips and passengers are limited. In a further effort to protect the river resources and promote user safety, all non-commercial floaters were also required to obtain permits through the Stanislaus National Forest's Groveland Ranger District Office.

On December 4th, the US Capitol Christmas Tree from the White River National Forest in Colorado was lit by Eagle Scout Ryan Shuster and House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio). This years tree was a 73 Foot Engleman Spruce from the Blanco Ranger District near Meeker, Colorado. Watch Video
