Partnerships

Our partners help maintain recreation sites and trails, reduce hazardous fuels, restore watersheds, monitor wildlife populations, improve wildlife and fisheries habitat, inventory and monitor archeological and historic sites, provide input to proposed management activities, conduct conservation education programs, and respond to emergency incidents.

Wildlife and Fisheries

The Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest has a long history of working with partners to accomplish important wildlife and fisheries work on the Forest. Partners over the years have include sister federal agencies, the state of Wisconsin, sporting groups, conservation organizations, universities, and private individuals.

Sporting groups that contribute to the Whitetails Unlimited, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Wild Turkey Federation, Ruffed Grouse Society, Trout Unlimited, and many other similar organizations have all played a significant role in the wildlife and fish habitat improvement work that has occurred on the Chequamegon-Nicolet. These groups have helped finance vegetation treatment projects that improve foraging conditions for wildlife, have provided dollars and labor for the construction of fishing access, to improve game and non-game species habitat, and stream improvement structures to improve trout habitat and fishing opportunities.
