Passes & Permits
Thank you for your interest in obtaining a special use permit on the Dixie National Forest (DNF). We recognize the important contribution(s) that Outfitter and Guide operations play in providing forest users multiple recreation opportunities on the DNF. Unfortunately, we currently have a significant staffing shortage in the DNF’s recreation program, which limits our ability to proceed with review and processing proposals for recreation special use permits.
Common activities that may require a permit include:
- Wood cutting for firewood, posts, poles, or rails
- Mushroom picking
- Rock collecting
- Christmas tree cutting
- Large group gatherings or events
- Filming or videography
- Outfitter guides
Christmas Tree Permits can be purchased on Recreation.gov! Please visit this forest's Christmas Tree page at: https://www.recreation.gov/tree-permits/dixie
Most national forest system lands are open, free of charge for your use and enjoyment. Entrance and user fees may be charged in some areas.
Areas on the Dixie National Forest that require entrance fees are:
