National Forest Visitor Maps
Visitor maps for each national forest and grassland provide forest-wide information on attractions, facilities, services, and opportunities. These maps are available to purchase from individual forests, from the National Forest Map Store (406-329-3024) and retail outlets.
Visitor maps for the Manti-La Sal National Forest were revised in 2013. In addition to the sources listed above, these maps are for sale at local Manti-La Sal National Forest offices in Price, Ferron, Ephraim, Moab, and Monticello in Utah.
A free Visitor guide for the Manti-La Sal National Forest is also available. It contains recreation sites, history, a basic map and other valuable information.
U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Maps
Topographic maps cover a small area and provide the greatest level of detail. These maps can be purchased from the U.S. Geological Survey, many individual forests, and many retail outlets.
Motor Vehicle Use Maps
Motor vehicle use maps are prepared and issued under 36 CFR 212.56, and identify those roads, trails, and areas designated for motor vehicle use. These maps are distributed free of charge.
Maps for Mobile Devices
Forest Visitor and Motor Vehicle Use Maps are available through the Avenza Map Store. The Avenza PDF Maps Application is free of charge and available for both Apple iPhone Operating System and Android devices. The iOS application can be downloaded directly to mobile devices through the iTunes store. The Android app is available at the Avenza website. PDF maps are geo-referenced and will work in conjunction with many GPS-enabled devices. For more information on Avenza PDF maps, please refer to the Avenza website. There is a charge for the Forest Visitor Maps and the Dark Canyon Wilderness map, while Motor Vehicle Use Maps are free.
Interactive Web Maps
The new National Forest Interactive Visitor Map is a work in progress. Information on trails and recreation sites is still being added.
The Interactive Travel Map depicts forest roads and trails, as well as recreation sites.
Miscellaneous maps cover specific trails, wilderness areas and other special areas.
Maps of the Manti-La Sal National Forest can be purchased from forest offices in Ephraim, Ferron, Moab, Monticello and Price, and at local retail stores.
