Event/Commercial Permits

Permits may be required for certain special activities, such as large groups, educational activities, or film-making. In general, permits are necessary for any activity that requires the forest to be altered in any way. Information about non-recreation special use permits is available from any Ranger District Office may contacted for more information about recreation special uses.

 

 

NEW--Ottawa National Forest Outfitter and Guide Permit Process. Outfitting and guiding are professions lead by people capable and willing to share their knowledge, skill, and equipment with forest visitors. The Forest Service works with outfitters and guides who provide visitor with a variety of the outdoor opportunities while protecting the environment.

If you are outfitting or guiding on the Hiawatha, Ottawa, or Huron-Manistee National Forests located in Michigan, you must have an Outfitting and Guiding Permit. Please contact the nearest Forest Service office to start the process.
