The USDA Forest Service is inviting the public to participate in its annual meeting to discuss implementation of the Oconee Forest Health and Wildlife Habitat Improvement Project (OFHWHIP) on Wednesday, December 2, 2015. A morning presentation will be followed by an opportunity for participants to travel to project sites where forest health issues and improvements will be discussed. The meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the Oconee District Workcenter Conference Room located at 1199 Madison Road in Eatonton, GA.

You are being invited to participate in the development of a forest health-focused project that will utilize authorities established under the Healthy Forest Restoration Act (HFRA), as amended by the 2014 Farm Bill. The project will emphasize locating and developing treatment options for areas considered at risk for southern pine beetle infestations. Potential project areas would include the Armuchee unit of the Conasauga Ranger District.
On Thursday, December 3, 2015, we will meeting at the Villanow Work Center at 9:30am for a brief introduction and then travel to the field for an informal presentation and discussion.
