Inaugural Ride of Indiana's Historic Pathways Scenic Byway will be on September 13, 2014. Stops will highlight a variety of natural features and historical sites. Fees: $10/bike, $5 additional passenger. Funds to publish an interpretive book for children on the byway.
Come help on Sunday, September 7, 2014 to clean up trash along Monroe Lake and restore our lakeshore to an inviting habitat for both people and wildlife. Gloves, trashbags, snacks and a free cookout for all volunteers will be provided. The event is limited to the first 100 volunteers to register and all volunteers must be at least 10 years of age. The cookout will be for all participants at 5:30 p.m. Wear closed-toe shoes and bring your own water bottle. Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian or part of an organized group.

On September 27, 2014, the Hoosier National Forest will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Wilderness Act. There are several activities being planned from 2-6 at Blackwell Horse Camp, Brooks Cabin, Hickory Ridge Fire Tower, and later at 7 p.m. at Hardin Ridge Recreation Area.
