There are a wide variety of events that take place in and near the Big Bear Discovery Center. The San Gorgonio Wilderness Association (SGWA) hosts many special events during the year including campfire programs, ranger talks, and film festivals. There are also a wide variety of volunteer opportunities including wilderness patrol, creek clean-up days, and staffing visitor centers. Walk for the Wild is a special event celebrating 50 years of the Wilderness Act! The California Wilderness Coalition, Angeles and San Bernardino National Forests, the Bureau of Land Management, Joshua Tree National Park and others are partnering for this event to celebrate our amazing wilderness areas.
There are two parts to the celebration: the Wilderness Fair, and Walk for the Wild. You can sign up to participate in the walk (registration fee required) or just come enjoy the fair (free) with partner booths, food trucks, Leave No Trace Traveling Trainers, and more. It's also National Public Lands Day!
