In honor of National Public Lands Day on Saturday, September 24, youth will be given free horse trail rides, courtesy of the Washington County Chapter of the Ohio Horseman's Council. Rides will be given from 1:00 to 4:00 pm ET. Kids should wear long pants and closed-toe shoes.
The Wayne National Forest, Ironton Ranger District will host the Lawrence County Bicentennial Iron Furnace Heritage Festival October 14, 9 am to 12:30 pm and October 15, 9 am to 3 pm. Festivities are scheduled to be held both days at the beautiful Lake Vesuvius Recreation Area, located 8 miles north of Ironton on State Route 93. Organizers are planning a celebration that will attract local school groups as well as the entire family.
