Shearer Guard Station is a historically valuable administrative site located on the Selway River approximately 16 miles upstream from Moose Creek Ranger Station approximately 35 miles west of Hamilton, Montana and 75 miles east of Grangeville, Idaho and is entirely on Nez Perce National Forest Lands in Idaho County, Idaho.

Nez Perce National Forest Travel Management

Also known as the Designated Routes and Areas for Motor Vehicle Use (DRAMVU), the purpose of this planning effort is to meet the intent of the Travel Management Rule and determine which routes should be designated for motorized vehicle use by type of vehicle and season of use. The DRAMVU Draft EIS (DEIS) was presented in December 2008. The DRAMVU Supplemental Draft EIS (SDEIS) was presented in October 2010. The forest is currently consulting with Federal agencies. Treating the area surrounding the guard station would reduce the costs and resource needs to protect the historic structures from wildfires. Shearer Guard Station is a historically valuable administrative site located on the Selway River approximately 16 miles upstream from Moose Creek Ranger Station approximately 35 miles west of Hamilton, Montana and 75 miles east of Grangeville, Idaho and is entirely on Nez Perce National Forest Lands in Idaho County, Idaho.
