OURAY, Colo. (June 25, 6 p.m.) — Fire officials have confirmed that the Snowshed Fire, which began on June 22, is now 100% contained thanks to the diligent efforts of local and federal firefighting crews. The wildfire burned approximately three acres and prompted temporary closures of U.S. Highway 550, Red Mountain Pass, all of which have since been lifted.

While efforts are winding down, select crews will remain on scene in the coming days to continue monitoring the area.

Community members and visitors are urged to stay informed about local fire restrictions, and if smoke or flames are observed, they should promptly note the location and report it by calling 9-1-1.
