Red Bridge Recreation Area

  

This busy recreation area is located off of Kinzua Bay, the southern arm of the Allegheny Reservoir. It offers 65 family campsites each containing a picnic table, fire ring and tent pad. Various types of campsites are available including: waterfront, full hookups (electric, water & sewage), electric hookups and walk-to tent only. Campsite reservations are accepted (1-877-444-NRRS, or the website at http://www.recreation.gov). First come, first serve sites are also available. Other facilities include both flush and vault toilets, pressurized water spigots, hot water showers, trailer dump station, paved roads, self-service pay station and a bank fishing area. Amenities such as firewood, ice, interpretive services and 24-hour campground attendants are offered at the site. Restrictions: No winter maintenance. Permissible length of stay is fourteen (14) days. Leaving your campsite unoccupied during the first night after equipment has been set up, or leaving equipment for more than 24 hours thereafter, is prohibited. Quiet time is from 10:00 p.m. to 6 a.m. Check out time is 2:00 p.m. Camping fees must be paid by 2:00 p.m. Don't forget to put your site number and your license plate number on your fee envelope. Campsites should not be used by more than eight persons. Each campsite contains a picnic table, fire ring or grill, and accommodates a tent, and parking for two vehicles and a wheeled camping unit . Additional vehicles will be charged a $5.00/day/vehicle fee, and must park in public parking areas. Other recreation equipment associated with a campsite (boats, trailers, jet skis, motorcycles) are not charged. Park all vehicles on the campsite spur, not on the grass. Weapons, firearms, and fireworks (fireworks are illegal in Pennsylvania) must not be discharged in the area. Waste material from trailers must be deposited at a dump station. Please place trash in the provided receptacles. Campfire permits are not required for camping in undeveloped areas. We ask that all campers build a safe fireplace, keep a clean camp, and make sure fires are fully extinguished before leaving camp. Please build fires only in designated fireplaces. Dead material, on the ground, may be used for fires, but living trees, shrubs, and plants must not be cut or damaged. A burning ban may be declared at certain times of the year, depending on weather and fuel conditions. At these times, campfires will be banned on the Forest. Please check with the Allegheny National Forest about burn bans during periods of extended dry weather.It is illegal to put nails, hooks, wire, tacks, and other foreign materials in trees and facility structures. These can damage trees and structures, become safety hazards, and are unsightly. Use lantern hooks, if provided, to hang lamps and tie out pets with removable stakes. Hunting, fishing, and trapping are permitted subject to rules of the Pennsylvania Game Commission and the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission. Do not blaze, hang flagging, or apply reflective tape or tacks to mark your route. Salt blocks, bait stations, and permanent tree stands or blinds are not permitted. Do not hunt within the safety zone around the developed areas. Remember to wear bright fluorescent-colored clothing if hiking and/or camping during hunting seasons, since these areas are popular with hunters. Pets must be kept on a leash, and are not allowed on beaches or in the water. No camping is allowed in picnic areas. If latrines are needed, please keep them at least 200 feet from a water source. All water that does not come from a developed recreation area should be filtered or boiled before use. Pump water from a developed recreation area is tested regularly and is safe for drinking

General Information

Directions: Red Bridge Recreation Area is located nine miles northwest of Kane, PA, along the Longhouse National Scenic Byway (State Route 321). It is located on the eastern shore of Kinzua Bay, a southern branch of the Allegheny Reservoir.
