The Allegheny has a rich variety of outdoor activities. There are over 600 campsites, 6 boat launches, 6 canoe access sites, 2 nationally designated wilderness areas; 2 wild and scenic rivers and many miles of hiking, snowmobiling and OHV trails. 

The Forest is open 24 hours. Office hours at Bradford Ranger District, Marienville Ranger District and the Supervisor's Office in Warren are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. However, during the summers, the Marienville Ranger District is open 7 days a week and the Bradford RD is open Monday through Saturday.

Fees are required for camping and boat launching.

Do not bring firewood from home to the Allegheny National Forest! This could spread the emerald ash borer, sirex wood wasp, hemlock woolly adelgid or other firewood borne invasive species. Possession of firewood from outside the area of the Allegheny National Forest is prohibited. Firewood is available at or near camping facilities.

Allegheny and Tionesta Reservoirs

Power boat use is especially heavy on these lakes on weekends; be careful when canoeing. We recommend early morning and late evening hours on weekends. PFD'S must be worn on all canoes and other boats less than 16 feet, by children less than 9 years of age, and by non-swimmers on all boats. Alcohol possession and consumption are prohibited on the water surface.
