This is a small campground located adjacent to Highway 14 and the Cache La Poudre River near the Big South Trailhead. It is best suited for tent or small RV camping. There are four sites, each with a picnic table and fire ring. There is a restroom at the facility but no drinking water. This site provides access to hiking (within the Comanche Peak Wilderness), fishing, and scenic driving.

Reservations: All campsites first-come, first-served
Fees $15. Reservations are not accepted. All campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Interagency Senior, Interagency Access, Golden Age and Golden Access passes provide cardholders half price for basic campground fees.
Usage: Heavy
Restrictions: A single site may hold up to eight people. Tents must fit on the pads provided. RVs, trailers or other vehicles must fit on the parking spur because driving or parking off road is not permitted. The parking length ranges from 15 to 30 feet. Call the local ranger district office for site-specific measurements.

Directions: Drive 11 miles north of Fort Collins on U.S. Highway 287.Turn left (west) onto Colorado Highway 14 (Poudre River Canyon) and travel approximately 47 miles.

If you want to get an early start on your hike up the Big South Trail, you may want to try this small campground, just across the highway bridge from the trailhead. The Cache la Poudre River may muffle highway sounds, as it is just down the bank from your campsite. Bring your own water.

Fire Information Unless fire restrictions are in effect, campfires are allowed in the fire ring provided, dead and down wood may be gathered from the forest if available. Wood may also be purchased from the hosts.
