Chambers Lake Campground


Area Status: Closed
Visitors will enjoy the beautiful scenery of Chambers Lake. Lake is nearby campground.

This campground is located approximately 60 miles northwest of Fort Collins, Colorado and situated in a mountainous, lodgepole pine forest. Each site contains a tent pad, fire grate and picnic table. All campsites with a tent pad have a bear locker. Additional facilities provided include a playground area and a boat ramp. Popular activities include fishing and boating on Chambers Lake or other near by lakes and streams, hiking, scenic driving, four-wheel driving, and wildlife viewing.  Please note the boat ramp may be unusable in late summer due to drop in water level.

Reservations:
Most campsites are reservable just before Memorial Day weekend through the end of the season.  Make your reservations at www.recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777 as early as 6 months in advance and at least 4 days prior to arrival. There is an additional $9 fee for this service via the website and a $10 fee for reservations made via the call center.
Fees: Check detailed fee information on www.recreation.gov or see general fees on our campground table.Fees are discounted 25% when water is off. Interagency Senior, Interagency Access, Golden Age and Golden Access passes provide cardholders half price for basic campground fees. Campsite fee includes use of the adjacent day-use fee area.
Usage: Heavy
Restrictions: A single site may hold up to eight people. Double sites will accommodate more people. Tents must fit on the pads provided. RVs, trailers or other vehicles must fit on the parking spur because driving or parking off road is not permitted. The parking length ranges from 20 to 45 feet.

Water: Drinking water is usually available through late September.

General Information

Directions: Drive 10 miles north of Fort Collins on U.S. Highway 287. Turn left (west) onto Colorado Highway 14 and travel approximately 51 miles. Turn right (north) onto signed road into campground (this will be approximately one mile past the turnoff for Laramie River Road).

Campground Camping

Snow keeps this 9,200' campground closed until late June. This is one of the few places on the Canyon Lakes Ranger District where you may launch a motorized boat. Wakeless speed only please. As the summer progresses, and the demand for downstream water increases, the boat ramp "comes out" of the water. Call ahead for the latest water levels.

Fire Information Unless fire restrictions are in effect, campfires are allowed in the fire ring provided, dead and down wood may be gathered from the forest if available. Wood may also be purchased from the hosts.
