Trail Highlights:

  • This trail begins from a newly signed junction about 1.5 miles up the Wolf Cr Trail.  It immediately crosses the creek and starts to head up the drainage.  This trail is very brushy in the summer and can be difficult to follow, even with recent trail work there.
  • The trail winds up along the Dry Fork of Wolf Cr, which does actually flow during the spring runoff.  The trail is in the willows for a good distance and also enters areas with tall Stinging Nettles that grow up to chin height in the summer. Long sleeves and pants are recommended.
  • The trail eventually reaches higher alpine meadows under Red Peak and Indian Peak, and climbs steeply across the hillside to an upper saddle where it meets up with the upper portion of the Wolf Cr Trail.  The trail can be hard to find up here so have a good map and know your route beforehand.

Options:

  •  This trail forms a large loop with the Wolf Cr Trail which can be done in one huge day out, or even better in an overnight trip.
