Trail Highlights:

  • This trail leaves the motorized parking lot and heads directly into the drainage.  After the signed junction for the Rock Cr Trail, the trail gets on an old roadbed, which it follows for a while, winding through thick timber.
  • Once the trail reaches the aspen ridge, it turns off the old roadbed and onto a newly rerouted section in 2019 which is much more condusive to mountain biking and hiking, though still at a steep grade.  The trail climbs through sagebrush meadows and aspen stands, offering great views of the area.  Evenetually the trail peaks out on top of Munger Mountain.
  • From here the trail turns and follows the ridgeline, offering spectacular views in every direction.  Be sure to not be caught up here in any thunderstorm activity as there is no cover.
  • Eventually the trail drops off the ridge and onto another newly completed reroute in 2020.  The trail winds its way down through aspen forest and open meadows with spectacualr views until reaching the creek below.  From here the trail turns and follows the creek up to the junction with the Squaw Cr Trail.

Options:

  • There are no other trails branching off of this but it is an excellent loop, from either direction, although typically accessed from the motorized trailhead and ridden counter clockwise.  From this trail you can access any other parts of the Munger Mountain Trail System.
