The Gros Ventre Area is an incredibly scenic area of the Jackson Ranger District and hosts an abundance of recreational activities for all ages.  The area is home to the Wild and Scenic Gros Ventre River, borders the Gros Ventre Wilderness and provides access to miles of OHV, hiking, and horseback riding trails.  Looking for a remote place to cast your line or for a quiet scenic drive?  This is the place for you.  During the winter months the Gros Ventre road is closed to vehicle traffic, but is groomed regularly for snowmobiling and cross-country skiing.  Get off the main road whether it be summer or winter and experience the large variety of trails that wind up and down the red rock and lavendar hills.  Wildlife abounds here and you could see almost any type of wildlife that lives in the region, ranging from Grizzly Bears to Trumpeter Swans.

The Gros Ventre Corridor is a popular area for a multitude of recreational opportunities during the summer but is also noted for its excellent snowmobiling, skiing and snowshoe opportunities during winter months. However, THIS AREA is surrounded by CRITICAL WINTER RANGE habitat that limits the public to recreating ONLY ON DESIGNATED ROUTES. Besides offing a spectacularly scenic landscape of windblown summits and a remote river valley that stretches for many miles, the Gros Ventre Corridor is also noted for excellent opportunities to view a variety of wildlife. And always remember to view wildlife from a safe distance as to not disturb them as animals winter reserves are limited and may affect their abilities to survive the harsh winter environment. Snowmobiles can access the Gros Ventre Corridor from the west via the town of Jackson, the north via Togwotee Mountain Lodge and from the south through the small community of Cora, Wyoming near the Pinedale area. Please keep in mine that the Gros Ventre Corridor is a fairly remote and rugged area that requires constant awareness of potential hazards such as severe weather conditions, severe temperatures, dangerous avalanche terrain, fuel levels and no cell phone service.
