Canyon Glacier Trail (#4010)


Beginning at Jack Lake Trailhead, the out and back Canyon Glacier Trail accesses Jack Lake and the Canyon Creek Meadows area which is north of Three Fingered Jack. This trail is within the Mt. Jefferson Wilderness and can also be accessed from Summit Lake Trail #4014.

The Canyon Glacier Trail #4010 enters Mt. Jefferson Wilderness. Wilderness Permits are required; see "Permit Info" below.

Fees: Recreation Fee Site: $5/vehicle/day or a valid recreation pass required at Jack Lake Trailhead.
Permit Info: Central Cascades Wilderness Permits are required between June 15 and October 15 for both day and overnight use at this trailhead. Check out Recreation.gov for more information or call 1-877-444-6777.
Restrictions:
  • Wilderness restrictions apply
  • Pamelia Lake – No camping within 100 feet of high-water mark of lake or any other water source
  • Campfires are prohibited above 5,700 feet and within these lake basins:
    • Marion Lake
    • Ann Lake
    • Table Lake
  • Motorized and mechanical equipment (including bicycles and drones) are prohibited in the Wilderness
  • Groups must be under 12 people and 12 head of stock
  • Build campfires at least 100 feet away from water
  • Pack in / Pack out!
  • “Take only pictures, leave only footprints” — please refrain from cutting, damaging, or gathering vegetation or other forest items (e.g. rocks, artifacts, etc.)
  • Please bury human waste 6-8 inches deep and at least 200 feet away from water

General Notes:

Directions to Jack Lake Trailhead:

  • From Sisters, Oregon take Highway 20 north for approximately 12 miles. 
  • Turn right on Forest Service Road 12. 
  • Follow Forest Road 12 for 4 miles until it veers left, turns into a dirt road and is now Forest Road 1230. 
  • Take Forest Road 1230 for about 2 miles until it splits, take a left at the 'Y' on to Forest Road 1234. 
  • Follow Forest Road 1234 for about 7 miles until it dead ends at the trailhead.
