Lava Cast Forest Day Use Interpretive Site

  

Take Highway 97 Exit 153 and head east for 9 miles on a gravel road to the trailhead.

This interpretive site is situated in the former Lava Cast Forest Geological Area (now part of the Newberry National Volcanic Monument). The landscape was molded by various lava flows and includes many tree molds.

There are picnic tables on site.

Directions:

From Bend, travel 15 miles south on Hwy 97 (3 miles south of Lava Lands Visitor Center), then 10 miles east on Forest Road 9720.
