Paulina Lake Campsite

Paulina Lake Campground is one of the Newberry National Volcanic Monument campgrounds located on the southwest shore of Paulina Lake. It offers opportunities for bird watching, bicycling, sightseeing, and access to the Paulina Lakeshore Trail #3955 and a short walk to Paulina Falls Day Use Area.

At a Glance

Current Conditions: Summer 2023 - Hazard tree inspectors identified more than 300 hazard trees within Paulina Lake Campground. Crews removed a majority of these trees last fall; however, some hazard tree removal work remains. The remaining hazard tree work will resume as soon as snow levels permit this spring. In anticipation of this work, the opening date for Paulina Lake Campground will be delayed by two weeks to June 30. Visitors with camping reservations between June 16 and June 29, will receive a full refund from Recreation.gov.
Operational Hours: Visit Recreation.gov for current operating dates and to make a reservation. This campground will be closing at noon on September 29, 2024, and the last night to reserve a campsite is September 28, 2024.

Fees:
  • Single Campsite Rate: $23/night
  • One vehicle included with reservation – Each Additional Vehicle: $10.00
  • NOTE: Holders of a Golden Age and Golden Access Passports and Senior and Access Passes are entitled to the following discounts on expanded amenity recreation fees: -  A 50 percent discount on the fee for a single camping unit. This discount does not apply to use of a cabin, lookout, double camping unit, triple camping unit, group camping unit, extra vehicle fees, or any additional camping units and separately charged utility, water, hook-up or day use fees.
  • Day Use: $5/vehicle/day at Paulina Lake Day Use Area

Restrictions:
  • Maximum site spur length is 30 feet.
  • The water system will be turned on in the month of May depending on weather conditions and will be turned off no later than September 30, or upon the campground closing, whichever, is earlier to prevent potential damage from cold temperatures.
