Little Oak Campground
Looking to camp near a large lake? Try Little Oak Recreation Area, located on a peninsula along the eastern shore of South Holston Lake in Sullivan County. In this campground, most of the 68 universally-accessible sites have lake views and many have direct access. Little Oak is a designated Watchable Wildlife Area with two interpretive trails. A concrete boat ramp provides a popular launch site into South Holston Lake, and is for use by registered campers and their guests only. Many of the campsites are reservable by going to Recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777 for your convenience.

General Information
Directions:From Bristol, take US 421 south for 12 miles, and turn right onto paved Camp Tom Howard Road. After 0.5 miles, this road becomes Forest Road #87. Continue on Road #87 for six miles. Turn right on Road #87G for 1.5 miles to Little Oak. National forest visitors can also access Little Oak Recreation Area off NFSR 87 from US HWY 421 and from State Route 44 near Hickory Tree via County Road 2269 – NFSR 251.

Little Oak Recreation Area offers camping opportunities for tents and RV's up to 30 foot. Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table, firering and lantern post.

Don't forget to bring your boat. Little Oak has a boat ramp into South Holston Lake. Boat ramp usage is for registed campers only.
Boating - Non-Motorized
Canoes and kayaks are welcome on this lake with views of Holston Mountain.
