Granite Creek Campground

Reservations are made though Recreation.gov (1-877-444-6777) and recommended for summer camping. Fees are charged during the summer season. Reservations may be made up to180 days prior to your desired arrival date in the summer season (Memorial Day through Labor Day in September).

A small loop campground with 18 sites (most sites are creekside) suitable for vehicle camping, RVs, and tents with 19 sites. Vault toilet, hand driven water pump, dumpster, picnic tables, fire rings, bear lockers. $19/night. A non-refundable service fee will be added to each reservation by Recreation.gov

General Information

General Notes:

Wildlife include black and brown bears, moose, mountain goats, snowshoe hare, spruce grouse and ptarmigan.  Goats can be seen on the peaks in the area.  Hunting is regulated, permits available.  Fishing for small Dolly Varden is available in Granite Creek near the campground.  Campground is located near Sixmile creek, which provides Class V whitewater opportunities for rafts and kayaks.  Review Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) hunting and fishing regulations.


Directions:

Campground is located 64 miles south of Anchorage along the Seward highway.

Activities

Campground Camping

A small loop campground with 19 sites (most beside creek) suitable for vehicle camping, RV’s, and tents.

19 sites. Vault toilet, hand driven water pump, dumpster, picnic tables, fire rings, bear lockers.  Not included:  running water, electricity, dump station, or wood.

Fees: There is a user pay station at the entrance to the campground. The current fee is $14 a night for any unreserved sites.

You might catch some tasty Dolly Varden in Granite Creek
