Ptarmigan Lake Trail - INHT

The Ptarmigan Lake Trail is a segment of the longer Iditarod National Historic Trail (INHT).

3.7 mile hiking trail from west end of Ptarmigan Lake to east end. This rough, narrow trail travels up and down, along the shore and high above the turquoise lake through open meadows, brush and forest. The lake and surrounding mountains are almost continuously in view.

At a Glance

Restrictions: Closed to motorized vehicles May 1- November 30. Closed to pack/saddle stock April 1- June 30. Not recommended for bicycles, horses, or snowmobiles.
