Crescent Lake Cabin


Area Status: Open

A 12 x 14-foot rustic cabin at the northwest end of Crescent Lake. The surrounding area is close to tree line affording views of nearby mountains.

This cabin sleeps 6 and has a table, wood stove, splitting maul, crosscut saw, outhouse, and rowboat with oars.

Not included: running water, electricity, mattress or beddng, cooking utensils, or cut firewood.

Reservations: Cabin reservations can be made up to 180 days in advance by calling 1-877-444-6777 (518-885-3639 overseas)  or visiting www.recreation.gov. Cabin reservations (check-in  & check out time) are from noon to noon.
Fees: Per night prices range from $50-75 (2018 prices) depending on season. Cabin fees are based on non-peak/peak season. Seasons vary by cabin. A non-refundable service fee will be added to each reservation by Recreation.gov
Restrictions: Crescent Creek Trail is closed to motorized vehicles from May 1- November 30. Crescent Creek Trail is closed to pack/saddle stock from April 1- June 30.  

General Information

Directions:

Crescent Lake Cabin is at the end of Crescent Creek Trail (6.5 miles). Recommended winter access is via Carter Lake Trail and the frozen surface of Crescent Lake. This cabin can be accessed by hiking, mountain biking, horse riding, skiing, snowmobiling, and float plane.

Big Game Hunting

Wildlife in the area include moose, black and brown bears, and Dall sheep. Hunting for these species in the designated seasons.

Safety Information

Extreme snow avalanche danger on Crescent Creek Trail in winter and early spring. For winter access to the cabin use the Carter Lake Trail and traverse across on the frozen Crescent Lake, except during extreme avalanche hazard, use caution. High winds may sweep across the lake causing danger for small boats. Bring life vests, the Forest Service does not provide them.

Inclement weather may cause an unexpected extension of the trip. Bring an extra supplies to last 2-5 days. Bringing a personal cooking stove is recommended. Boil surface water 5 minutes before drinking. Remember to pack out your trash. Enjoy, but do not disturb the archaeological and/or historical sites in the vicinity. You can contact a U.S. Forest Service office for more detailed information.

 


Permits & Regulations

Crescent Creek Trail is closed to horses from April 1-June 30 and to motorized vehicles from May 1 - November 30.
