Crowley Pit Snow Play Area

Crowley Pit is a large depression along US-180 (Fort Valley Road) north of Flagstaff which makes an excellent place to enjoy some sledding in the winter snow.  The snow-play area is undeveloped and there are no facilities.

General Information


Crowley Pit: From Flagstaff, head northwest on Highway 180, approximately 9.8 miles (about 1 mile past the Flagstaff Nordic Center), turn left at the parking sign (mile post 233), and continue to the parking area. (The only sign for Crowley is a "Parking" sign-- no other indication.)

Parking is limited and there is no official parking lot.  The areas for parking include the sides of the short road into the pit area and a small turnaround near the pit that fills up with vehicles quickly.  It is illegal and unsafe to park along Highway 180.
