Sandy Bottoms Campground
Whether you plan your trip during the rebirth of Spring or later in the year during the display of the prominent North Georgia Fall colors, this 13-site developed campground is sure to heighten the innate beauty of any season. Graced with various species of hardwoods and resting on the shore of the Tallulah River, Sandy Bottoms provides a rustic experience for the outdoor enthusiast to camp, swim, fish or just to sit back and enjoy the scenery.

Restrictions: | Pick out your site and pay the fee within 30 minutes after arrival. Quiet hours are between 10 pm and 6 am. No generators are to be operating during quiet hours. The maximum stay is 14 days. After the camper(s) has accumulated 14 days within any 30-day time period, the camper(s) must leave that area/campground and move from Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest land for 30 days before returning for another stay. |
Closest Towns: | The nearest town is approximately 22 miles, or 35 minutes, to Clayton, GA. Here campers will find restaurants, grocery stores, etc. |
Water: | Drinking water is provided from one, centralized hand pump. |

Passes: | The America the Beautiful Interagency Senior and Access Passes or the Golden Age and Golden Access Passports are accepted. These passes entitle the pass holder to a 50% discount on camping fees. Please remember to write your pass number on the fee envelope to receive credit for the discount. |

Information Center: | The offloading or use of any UTVs, ATVs, or Golf Carts is not allowed in any campground on the Chattooga River Ranger District. It is prohibited to drive any UTVs,ATVs, or Gold Carts on Tallulah River Road. General Information
Directions:Physical Address: 4841 Tallulah River Rd., Clayton, GA
Take U.S. 76 west from Clayton for 8 miles; turn right (north) on Persimmon Road for 4.2 miles; turn left (northwest) on Forest Service Road 70 for 4.6 miles to arrive at Sandy Bottoms Campground.

- Graveled driving loop thru recreation area
- Restroom facility
- Standard amenities (i.e. grill, picnic tables, lantern poles,etc).
- Potable drinking water at the hand pump on the hillside path
River and Stream Fishing
The Tallulah River is routinely stocked with Rainbow Trout. Please remember that the State of Georgia fishing licence and Trout Stamp are required for anyone over the age of 16.
