White Sulphur Trail #115/115A


Area Status: Open

White Sulphur Trail #115 connects with the Sheltowee Trace National Recreation Trail from the White Sulphur Horse Camp and provides access to many trails in the Pioneer Weapons Wildlife Management Area. The trail system includes White Sulphur Road, old logging roads and dirt trails. The trail is located on Cumberland District, near Cave Run Lake.

White Sulphur Trail begins at the White Sulphur Horse Camp with an easy short loop for beginning riders. The loop is 2.5 miles. The trail then heads south toward White Sulphur Road, paralleling the road before climbing away from White Sulphur Road and eventually intersecting with Sheltowee Trace #100 near Zilpo National Forest Scenic Byway 918.

Trail Difficulty Level: More Difficult

Trail is open to horse and hiking use only. Mountain biking and motorized use are not permitted. Trail open to horses and hikers May 15 to December 15. Open to hikers only December 16 to May 14.

Directions:

From US 60 take KY 211 south from Salt Lick for 4 miles. Turn left on Forest Service Road 129. Go 2 miles to Clear Creek Market, and then turn left on Forest Service Road 105; go 2.5 miles.


Parking:

Parking is available at the trailhead and White Sulphur Horse Camp parking area. 


General Notes:

The trail begins at the White Sulphur Horse Camp and connects with Forest Service Road 105D. Horses are not allowed beyond this road onto the OHV trail. A short connector trail (White Sulphur Trail #115A) links the horse camp with the Sheltowee Trace National Recreation Trail. The trail also heads south from the horse camp and connects with the Sheltowee Trace National Recreation Trail - Section 9. The distance from the junction of 115A with the Sheltowee Trace and the junction of trail #115 with the Sheltowee Trace is about 3 miles.
