Koomer Ridge Campground, located on Cumberland Ranger District,  features semi-primitive camping in a tranquil forest setting. The campground provides access to trails in the Red River Gorge.

The campground amphitheater opens Memorial Day weekend and features a program each Saturday through Labor Day. The programs usually begin at dusk. Check the campground bulletin board or contact the Gladie Learning Center for more information.

Cliff Trail #206 (.5 mile)
 Koomer Ridge Trail #220  (2.75 miles)
 Silvermine Arch Trail #225  (1.5 miles)
 Hidden Arch Trail #208 (1 mile).

General Information

Directions:

Traveling east on the Mountain Parkway, take exit 33 at Slade. Turn left and then right onto KY 15. This campground is 5 miles on the left. 


Accessibility:

Site 46 in the tent area is accessible. The bathhouse and toilets are accessible. The parking area at the bathhouse is accessible. 


General Notes:

Sites are available on a first-come, first-serve basis with no reservations accepted. 
 

Check-in instructions are on the bulletin board at the entrance. Campers can stay a maximum of 14 days without special permission. 


Parking:

Parking is available at the campground for campers staying at the Koomer Ridge Campground. 
Parking for backpackers and hikers is allowed at Koomer Ridge, but only at the trailhead parking lot.

Amenities

Camping trailer 15 sites can accommodate RVs up to 35 feet; no water or electric hookups; no RV dump station.
Toilets Accessible vault toilets are available all year. The flush toilets are not available in the winter.
Accessible Accessible bathhouse and toilets are available except in winter. Accessible parking and vault toilets are available year-round.
Picnic tables Picnic tables are available at the campsites and trailheads.
Tent camping 54 sites for camping year-round. Tent site #46 is accessible.
Drinking water Potable water is available from hydrants all year.
