The Tater Knob trail is a short trail that begins at the Tater Knob Fire Tower parking area and connects to the south with Buck Creek Trail. It begins by passing by a spring that flows from the limestone rock below Tater Knob. This spring was used by the fire lookouts stationed at the tower. The trail passes below the limestone cliff and continues along the ridge before a long descent to Buck Creek Trail. The trail also connects with Cave Run Trail which begins across the Zilpo Scenic Byway, parallels the road and then continues north.
