The trail is located near Cave Run Lake on Cumberland Ranger District. Tater Knob Fire Tower is closed to visitation due to damage.
Hiking and mountain biking are permitted on this trail. Horse and motorized use are not permitted.
Tater Knob Trail starts at the Tater Knob Fire Tower parking area, follows the ridge southward then descends steeply along an old timber road, ending at the Buck Creek Trail #118 which is also FS 1056.
