Sheltowee Trace Trail #100 Section 8


Area Status: Open

Section 8 of the Sheltowee Trace National Recreation Trail begins at Limestone Bike Trail #109 and goes to KY 801. Located in a natural forest setting away from roads, on the Cumberland District. The trail passes several wildlife ponds before heading west, down a ridge to the district office parking lot. 

Trail Difficulty Level: More Difficult.

This section of the Sheltowee Trace is open to hiking and mountain biking. Horse and motorized use not permitted.

This section of the Sheltowee Trace National Recreation Trail ends at KY 801 across from the Cumberland Ranger District office.

Parking:

Parking is available at the Morehead Ranger District Visitor Center.


Directions:

From Forest Service Road 16, across from the Twin Knobs Recreation Area - Pass three gated roads on your right and turn left on the next road, which is Forest Service Road 964. Park along the road and hike to the gate. Hike 3.5 miles along the Big Limestone Trail to its intersection with the Sheltowee Trace.


Parking:

Parking is available at the Cumberland Ranger Station.
