Crater Butte Trail


The trail begins near the east end of Odell Lake at the Crater Butte Trailhead and ends at the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail #2000 near Marie Lake.

On its way west to the Pacific Crest Trail #2000 there are trail junctions with Fawn Lake Trail #44A (at Fawn Lake), Stag Lake Trail #44B, Whitefish Creek Trail #42, and Snell Lake Trail #43.

Permit Info: Wilderness Permits are required for both day-use and overnight travel in the Wilderness from Memorial Day weekend until Oct. 31. Permits are available at the trailhead.

General Information


From Crescent, OR, travel 12.2 miles west on County Road 61, then 5.4 miles north on Hwy 58 to the Crater Butte trailhead at Odell Lake.

This trail starts and ends in Douglas fir/white fir/mountain hemlock forest with lodgepole pines in between.  There is access to Fawn, Saddle, and Stag Lakes.
