Cinder Hill Campground

Cinder Hill Campsite

This campground is located along the shore of East Lake with several of the sites close to the shore and the rest within easy walking distance to the beach area. The Cinder Hill Trailhead provides access to the Newberry Crater Trail #3958 and other connecting trails are accessible from the campground.

Operational Hours: Visit Recreation.gov for current operating dates. This campground will be closing at noon on October 20, 2024, and the last night to reserve a campsite is October 19, 2024.

Fees:
  • Single Campsite Rate: $23/night
  • One vehicle included with reservation – Each Additional Vehicle: $10.00
  • NOTE: Holders of a Golden Age and Golden Access Passports and Senior and Access Passes are entitled to a 50 percent discount on the fee for a single camping unit. This discount does not apply to use of a cabin, lookout, double camping unit, triple camping unit, group camping unit, extra vehicle fees, or any additional camping units and separately charged utility, water, hook-up or day use fees.
  • Day Use: $5/vehicle/day at Cinder Hill Boating (North) & Cinder Hill Boating (South)
Open Season: Tentative Opening: June 14, 2024 - October 20, 2024

Restrictions:
  • Maximum site spur length is 30 feet.
  • The water system will be turned on in the month of May depending on weather conditions and will be turned off no later than September 30, or upon the campground closing, whichever is earlier, to prevent potential damage from cold temperatures.

General Information

Directions:

From Bend, OR: Travel 23.5 miles south on Highway 97, then 17.6 miles east on Paulina Lake Road (County Road 21), and 0.5 miles north on Forest Road 2100 700.  Cinder Hill is the last campground that you come to on the road past Paulina and East Lakes in the Newberry Caldera.
