Fremont OHV Trail

The Freemont OHV Trail, No. 3002, begins at Tropic Reservoir and extends northerly on the Paunsaugunt and Sevier Plateaus to Circleville, Utah. The trail is approximately 76 miles in length, utilizes existing roads and includes that portion of the trail only on National Forest System lands.  The terrain and scenery are highly variable and includes forests, grasslands, sagebrush, shrub lands, and red rock to green rock and volcanic geological formations and scenery.  The roads are used for many purposes and the OHV users should always be alert to and be cautious of motor vehicles over 40 inches in width. At Circleville, the trail ties into the Piute ATV Trail which is a large ATN trail system in central Utah. The Forest Service have highlights some loops that can be ridden along this trail. These loops are West Hunt Loop, Casto-Limekiln Loop, Horse Valley Peak Loop and Table Mountain Loop to the east of the Fremont trail. These loops and this section of the Fremont OHV trail are on the OHV Fremont System Map available in the Powell Ranger District Office in Panguitch or at the Red Canyon Visitor Center.

Water: Water is available seasonally along the way. All water needs to be treated or filtered
Restroom: Vault toilets at Tropic Reservoir, Coyote Hollow parking area and Casto Canyon Trailhead.
Information Center: The Tropic Reservoir Trailhead consists of an OHV loading ramp, kiosk (information), parking lot and restroom. The trail head also serves in conjunction with the with the boat launching facilities at Tropic Reservoir. The King Creek Campground, with 36 units, is located .1 mile southwest of the trailhead. The Tropic Reservoir Trailhead also serves the East Fork OHV trail system, which extends south of Tropic Reservoir and consists of approximately 76 miles of OHV trail. Elevations of the Freemont Trail vary from 6080 feet at Circleville, Utah, to 9030 feet in Smith Canyon, 8536 feet near Blind Mtn., and 7880 at Tropic Reservoir. This trail is located on the Powell Ranger District, Dixie National Forest, Garfield County, Utah.
