Overview

Camping at Blue Spruces Campground

Blue Spruce Campground is a small campground adjacent to Pine Creek in a blue spruce forest. It offers pleasant temperatures and shade throughout the summer. It is close to several trails open to hiking, horseback riding, and mountian biking. It is also close to the Box-Death Hollow Wilderness area in which only hiking is allowed.

- 5 single campsites with picnic tables, and fire rings/grills
- 1 double site with picnic tables, and fire rings/grills
- Vault toilet
- No garbage disposal, please pack it out

Current Conditions: Blue Spruce CG is run by the Forest Service, Fees to be paid year round. Water is shut off for during freezing temps.
Operational Hours: Year Round (weather permitting)
Reservations: Blue Spruce Campground is a first come, first served campround and does NOT offer reservations.

  • $9 for campsite
  • $4 for extra vehicle
Open Season: Year Round (weather permitting)
Usage: Light-Medium
Restrictions:
  • Quiet hours between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
  • Campfires in developed fire pits only
  • Fireworks are prohibited
  • Dogs must be on leash
  • Street legal OHVs are allowed in all Dixie National Forest campgrounds;OHV/ ATVs are allowed in Blue Spruce campsite 1.
  • Maximum length of stay: 14 days

General Information

Directions:

From Escalante, turn north on 300 East. At 0.7 miles the road will fork, stay right. After 3.5 miles the road will turn to dirt and is now called Forest Road 153 (FR 153). At 13.6 miles the road will fork, turn right following the sign to “Hells Backbone Bridge” (FR 153). At 18 miles turn left on FR 145 to Blue Spruce Campground.

Campground Camping

  • Tent camping is preferrred.  RVs are not recommended due to limited space in the campground.
