North Country National Scenic Trail
A 30-mile segment of The North Country National Scenic Trail leads hikers through the Sheyenne National Grassland’s unique landforms and plant communities. This trail has three trailheads along its route. It is a graveled, marked trail. The entire North Country National Scenic Trail stretches from Crown Point, New York to Lake Sakakawea near Garrison, North Dakota. Please note, the North Country National Scenic Trail is intended for non-motorized travel. Motorized vehicles including motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), utility terrain vehicles (UTVs), and snowmobiles are not allowed to travel on the Trail.
Directions to the trailheads: The eastern trailhead can be reached by traveling north three miles on County Road 4 (153rd Avenue SE) from Highway 27. Continue to follow County Road 4 by turning east (64th Street SE) for one mile and then turn north on County Road 23 (154th Avenue SE) and go about two and a half miles to the trailhead. To reach the western trailhead from Highway 27, travel a little over three miles south on County Road 54 (141st Avenue SE). The middle trailhead is located about two miles north on County Road 53 (148th Avenue SE) from Highway 27.
