Blacktail Cross Country Ski Trail
The Blacktail Cross Country Ski trails total 17.4 miles long. There are several trailheads on Blacktail Mt Road #917 with the main access approximately 6 miles from Lakeside. Trails are not noted on Swan Lake District map, please visit the North Shore Nordic Club, a trail partner, for maps of the system, trail conditions, and addition user information. The trail is open to: cross country skiing,snowshoeing, and skijoring.
Dogs are allowed but must be kept on a leash or under control at all times. Please clean up all dog poop and do not split the trail.

General Information
Directions:To access the main trailhead, from Hwy 93 near Lakeside, turn west onto Blacktail Rd (after turning, turn left immediately-- in front of the hardware store). Continue up Blacktail Rd which turns into Forest Service Rd #917 for about 6.3 miles to a hairpin turn in the road. There is a large parking area, vault toilet, and donation box here.
There is a second access point to the Nordic trails if you continue up Forest Service Rd #917 1.7 miles to the intersection of Forest Service Rd #2990 (Truman Saddle). There is parking for about six vehicles and provides access to the upper section of trails.
